The Valeo International Academy Gap year program dates are designed for high school players that wish to pursue their footballing aspirations while staying focused on their academics. Directly aligned with both the academic schedule that takes place in the United States and the European football schedule, this program allows athletes to take a year off before attending college without losing any of their 4-year eligibility.
The GAP Year Program begins in September and concludes in May. Athletes in this program will train with local senior teams and youth academies, and compete in regional and national competitions.
Semester Abroad
Designed for high school players that wish to pursue their footballing aspirations while staying focused on their academics.
For athletes who wish to advance their college or university studies while with us, we offer full support to help accomplish these goals. The College Program provides players with a unique opportunity to incorporate their passion for football into a traditional study abroad experience.
Throughout their time with our program, student-athletes will have full access to online college and university courses that will help advance their knowledge in several different areas of academia. These courses also serve as an effective opportunity to earn credits toward a degree they are already pursuing at their domestic college or university. This VIA program reflects a perfect balance between intensive football training and academic requirements, that will help the individual grow at this crucial time in their young lives.
This abroad program also enables student-athletes to gain new skills and knowledge through the acquisition of a foreign language, culture, and ideas. The College & University Program is 100% student-oriented, meaning they have freedom to follow their own academic interests, rather than being required to take general education courses. Students may choose the full academic year option, or decide on a 1st or 2nd term option.
Vacation Camps
Athletes ages 15-19 will play and train with international academy teams adapting to European football firsthand.
The VIA Vacation Training programs are operated in tandem with elite professional teams and soccer academies throughout Europe. It allows players to train with international players and teams and adapt to European football firsthand. These programs enhance the player’s overall understanding of football as a culture, rather than just a game.
With the choice of attending for a one, two, or four-week time period, these VIA Vacation Camps serve as an option for those looking to expand their football knowledge beyond their current limitations, without having to seek a long-term exchange program.
Professional Development
Provides competitive players over the age of 17 the opportunity to train and play for a Professional Irish club.
The VIA PRO identifies, prepares, and places ambitious footballers with aspirations of playing European football.
Our VIA PRO Year Program enables competitive players over the age of 18 to take the opportunity to train and play for a Portuguese club for either a half, or full season. Players are placed on a club according to their level of play, and have the opportunity to train and compete with elite players from all around the globe.
An initial evaluation period upon arrival determines specific club placement. Players live in either a shared apartment or with a host family and will attend an intensive language institute that will enable our players to experience rapid advancement in their foreign language. University degree programs are also available.
This program serves as a rare chance to gain exposure overseas, while simultaneously gaining valuable playing and learning experience.
